Model # YPK-04
At a glance: Enhances the operation of an NCE Cab-04 potentiometer-style throttle operating in "yard" mode. The Yard Paddle Knob provides a detent to easily position the control knob to its center-off position. No more locomotive drift because the OEM knob is not precisely centered on its center-off position!
What's in the bag:
- Yard Paddle Knob Assembly
- Allen key (1/16")
- Allen key (2mm)
- Installation instructions
Installation is easy! After removing the OEM knob, you simply snap on the Yard Paddle Knob assembly, calibrate the center-off position, tighten the two paddle knob set screws, place the throttle in yard mode, and the throttle is ready for use. See the installation video below.
Easy to use! You can easily manipulate the paddle knob using only your thumb or using both your index and center finger while holding the throttle. This single-handed use frees your other hand for other operation duties like throwing track switches or uncoupling cars. You will quickly learn to manipulate the paddle knob single-handed without looking at the throttle.
Why the Yard Paddle Knob was created. The Yard Paddle Knob is used on potentiometer-style NCE hand-held throttles when operating them in "yard" mode. Yard mode splits the OEM knob rotation into two rotational segments such that when rotated left, the locomotive moves left; when rotated right, the locomotive moves right; and when the knob is "centered," the locomotive is off (not moving).
A common difficulty with the OEM knob is quickly and accurately centering the knob so the locomotive stops. There is no detent indicating the center. The knob can be slightly off-center, causing the locomotive to slowly "drift" down the track. This condition can be exacerbated by a busy, sometimes hectic operating session.
The Yard Paddle Knob replaces the OEM control knob and provides a detent at "center-off," full-left, and full-right positions. The center-off detent position ensures the locomotive is off and will not drift. An added design feature is the knob's paddles. They make it easy for the operator to know when the knob is rotated left, right, or centered. There is also an orange-colored "tic" mark on the knob which indicates its rotational position.
The Yard Paddle Knob does not interfere with storing the Cab throttle in holsters typically used on layouts.
Supported NCE Cab models: The Yard Paddle Knob is available for both Cab-6 (with the LED display below the OEM knob) and Cab-04 (with a single LED on the top face next to the OEM knob) throttles.
