Why Console Repair Kits were developed - The control consoles on most motorcars are made of aluminum. Depending on the car type, the steel brake, clutch, and drive-belt activation levers pass through the console for car-operator access. The consoles typically have hooks or "fingers" that the activation levers pass by and slip into to hold the brakes in their park position, the clutch in its disengaged position, or the belt in its engaged position.
After years of operation, many of these console hooks have worn away such that the control levers no longer reliable stay in their parked, disengaged, or engaged positions. These repair kits re-establish those worn-away console hooks. Each kit targets a specific motorcar console.
The repair part is laser cut from 1/4" 304 Stainless Steel, deburred, chamfered, and ready for installation. Kits includes all mounting hardware.
Basic installation instructions: Temporarily place the patch on top of the console, over the worn hook, and in its desired location. Mark the mounting hole locations, drill the holes, and mount the patch underneath the console using the provided mounting hardware.
